Before
the stripping process, always do a sample area to find out how
large an area you can handle at a time.
Never rush the stripping process,
but at the same time, don't wait too long - 15 to 20 minutes usually
is sufficient. Use a scraper to remove finish on large flat areas,
and follow that with #2 steel wool. Use a 3-in-1
stripping tool for ornate areas, turned legs, etc. to
remove as much finish as possible, and again follow with #2 steel
wool.
For any areas that don't appear
to be completely stripped, go back over them immediately.
